My volunteer colleagues and I were expecting to be in Indonesia by now, but we’re not. Some of our work visas weren’t processed on time, so Peace Corps has extended our first, usually very brief, stateside meeting and turned it into a pre-pre-training. The visa issue has been resolved, but imagine rebooking complicated international flights for 70 odd people last minute.
Exactly, so we have to wait just a little longer before we can leave for Indonesia. We’ve been taking advantage of this opportunity to get to know one another better, and some have even been able to squeeze in a few more goodbyes. All in all, a valuable exercise in patience and flexibility.
